My heart leaps up

http://www.alaska-in-pictures.com/data/media/13/rainbow-over-the-muldrow-glacier_1127.jpg

My heart leaps up when I behold

A rainbow in the sky:

So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.

William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850)

You are the future

You are the future,
the red sky before sunrise
over the fields of time.

You are the cock's crow when night is done,
you are the dew and the bells of matins,
maiden, stranger, mother, death.

You create yourself in ever-changing shapes
that rise from the stuff of our days---
unsung, unmourned, undescribed,
like a forest we never knew.

You are the deep innerness of all things,
the last word that can never be spoken.
To each of us you reveal yourself differently:
to the ship as coastline, to the shore as a ship.

The soul ( goethe )

Gesang der Geister über den Wassern
Song of the spirits over the waters

The soul of man
Is like the water:
It comes from heaven,
It returns to heaven,
And down again
To earth must go,
Ever changing.

When from the high,
Sheer wall of rock
The pure stream gushes,
It sprays its lovely vapor
In billowing clouds
Towards the smooth rock,
And lightly received,
It goes enshrouded,
Softly hissing
Down to the deep.

Cliffs tower,
Opposing its fall.
Annoyed, it foams
Step by step
Into the abyss.

In a flat bed
It slinks down the grassy vale,
And in the waveless lake
All the stars
Feast on their likeness.

Wind is the wave's
Handsome suitor;
Wind stirs up from the depths
Foaming billows.

Soul of man,
How like to the water!
Fate of man,
How like to the wind!
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

L'âme de l'homme

L'âme de l'homme
Est semblable à l'eau;
C'est du ciel qu'elle vient,
C'est au ciel qu'elle monte,
Et il lui faut redescendre sur terre
En un changement éternel.

Beauty beyond Beauty

Beauty beyond Beauty

The beauty of the world is a reflection of the Divine Essence, which dwells in the world.

The Kabbalists called her "Shechinah", the Feminine of God .
The word "Shechinah" in Hebrew comes from the root "Shakhan", meaning "to dwell".

It is written in the "Bahir"( The book of Illumination), one of the most ancient texts of the Kabbalah, " What is the meaning of 'beautiful' ? It is the beauty of all things".

Every day as you wake up

"Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others. I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can."

- The Dalai Lama

Twigs poem :simple and profound

I like this poem , simple and profound.

Twigs
(excerpt)
And so
it has taken me
all of sixty years
to understand
that water is the finest drink,
and bread the most delicious food,
and that art is worthless
unless it plants
a measure of splendor in people's hearts.

Ursi's Eso Garden

I stumbled across Ursi's Eso Garden while flying around in cyberspace this morning of the New Moon. There are no accidents. This is a vein of gold. I stumbled upon a treasure chest. JOY !

Now is the time.

Now is the Time

Now is the time to know
That all that you do is sacred.

Now, why not consider
A lasting truce with yourself and God.

Now is the time to understand
That all your ideas of right and wrong
Were just a child's training wheels
To be laid aside
When you finally live
With veracity
And love.

Hafiz is a divine envoy
Whom the Beloved
Has written a holy message upon.

My dear, please tell me,
Why do you still
Throw sticks at your heart
And God?

What is it in that sweet voice inside
That incites you to fear?

Now is the time for the world to know
That every thought and action is sacred.

This is the time for you to compute the impossibility
That there is anything
But Grace.

Now is the season to know
That everything you do
Is sacred.

Soul to soul meetings through the camera lense

My lovely friend K was telling me that she didn't like the photo her husband had taken of her , the photo that was to represent months of hard work getting into shape. The photo that was to be the great reveal .

" I want to see that pic of you so I can make up my own mind " I said " but .. I DO understand what you mean. What did Mr K. say about the pic ? What did he see? What prompted him to take a pic ? was it naughtiness or did he see something he really liked ?? "

It is fascinating to me , how some people with the help of a camera can actually capture a person's essence while others only manage photographs that are very two dimensional... diagrams .. sort of flat .. soul-less...uninteresting.

There are VERY few photos of myself that I like. I'm not photogenic at all. Maybe it is because I am not in my body half the time ... I am somewhere else in the thoughts and fantasies that make up 'miraland'

I saw a programme about a Swedish photographer yesterday who takes AMAZING photos of people that aren't posed. He seems to caputure their essence or soul.. the actual meeting ... and THAT must be very very difficult.. a skill .. an art. Anders Petersen is his name. He dares to tread on the dark side of human nature. The dark side that is at the same timehttp://streetpulse.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/petersen03.jpg ugly and beautiful .

I wonder .. looking at his photos .. can you SEE the beauty ?

Check out the mental hospital ones .. and the prison .....

A beautiful poem by Hafiz

I HAVE COME INTO THIS WORLD TO SEE THIS
I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands even at the height
of their arc of anger
because we have finally realized there is just one flesh to wound
and it is His - the Christ's, our
Beloved's.
I have come into this world to see this: all creatures hold hands as
we pass through this miraculous existence we share on the way
to even a greater being of soul,
a being of just ecstatic light, forever entwined and at play
with Him.
I have come into this world to hear this:
every song the earth has sung since it was conceived in
the Divine's womb and began spinning from
His wish,
every song by wing and fin and hoof,
every song by hill and field and tree and woman and child,
every song of stream and rock,
every song of tool and lyre and flute,
every song of gold and emerald
and fire,
every song the heart should cry with magnificent dignity
to know itself as
God:
for all other knowledge will leave us again in want and aching -
only imbibing the glorious Sun
will complete us.
I have come into this world to experience this:
men so true to love
they would rather die before speaking
an unkind
word,
men so true their lives are His covenant -
the promise of
hope.
I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands
even at the height of
their arc of
rage
because we have finally realized
there is just one flesh
we can wound.

A healing prayer

I offer this , slightly adapted prayer of St Francis of Assisi to my mother and all who are in need of healing.

Great Spirit make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Spirit, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Love develops into harmony, and of harmony is born beauty.

Photo of Inayat Khan

Love develops into harmony, and of harmony is born beauty.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

Love produces harmony and harmony creates beauty. Therefore the chief motto in life is 'Love, harmony and beauty'. Love, in all things and beings, the beloved God, in harmony with all in the right understanding, and beautify your life by observing the beauty within and without. By love, harmony and beauty you must turn the whole of life into a single vision of divine glory.

~~~ "Vol II, Mysticism of Music, Sound and Word, Aphorisms ", by Hazrat Inayat Khan
How the words 'love,' 'harmony,' and 'beauty' delight the heart of everyone who hears them! One may wonder what it can be in these words that is able to exert such a natural power upon the human soul. The answer is that if there is anything in life which appeals to the human soul, it is love and beauty. If one asks, 'And what besides those?' then the answer is, 'There is nothing else.'
from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/VII/VII_1.htm
Our virtues are made of love, and our sins are caused by lack of it. Love turns sins into virtues, and its lack makes virtues meaningless. Christ said when a woman was brought before Him accused of sin, 'Her sins are forgiven, for she loved much.' Heaven is made so beautiful with love, and life becomes a hell through the lack of it. Love in reality creates harmony in one's life on earth and peace in heaven.
from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/V/V_22.htm
It is harmony which makes beauty; beauty in itself has no meaning. An object which is called beautiful at a certain place and time is not beautiful at another place or another time. And so it is with thought, speech and action: that which is called beautiful is only so at a certain time and under certain conditions which make it beautiful. So if one can give a true definition of beauty, it is harmony. Harmony in a combination of colors, harmony in the drawing of a design or a line is called beauty, and a word, a thought, a feeling, an action that creates harmony is productive of beauty.
